Rookie Days 2020

October 20, 2019

With the new Tottenham Hotspurs stadium playing host to the NFL London Games this October, UK fans of the sport will be wearing in those brand new seats watching their favourite teams face off on unfamiliar ground. Adrenaline flowing, rivalries resurrected and feats of sporting prowess in play over that 100 yards, watching the game is a rush like no other. That is, until you take to the field yourself….

Whether you’re a seasoned armchair pro or you still blush a little when someone talks about a Tight End, The Cambridgeshire Cats are inviting keen individuals to join them for a series of Rookie Days this winter.

Who are the Cats?

The Cambridgeshire Cats finished as SFC1 East champions in 2019, narrowly missing out on progressing to national finals by a minor points difference. We know, heartbreaking, right? That makes the team even more determined to make a major push to promotion next season. Just check out our stats –  this is a team on an upward trajectory.

Our coaching team has more years of experience between them than they’d care to admit, and our players are the kind of team you’d be proud to stand alongside.

What about you?

Contrary to what you might believe, American Football is a sport with a place for everyone. Come exactly as you are – big or small, fast or slow, boy or girl, as long as you’re  aged 16+; we’re looking for grit and determination, no matter what shape it comes in. No experience is required – we’ll teach you everything you need to know.

What will happen on the day?

Turn up at Coldham’s Common on the day with:

  • Appropriate footwear for training on grass
  • A bottle of water
  • A mouthguard (if you’ve got one. We don’t recommend sharing…)

You’ll meet with the team and our coaches, who’ll take you through the basics of the game. After that, you’ll get to try on equipment and try out some different positions before moving on to some controlled hitting and contact drills.

Are you in?

We’ll be holding two Rookie Days in 2019:

November 24th, 10:30 – 13:30

December 1st, 10:30 – 13:30

You’re welcome to attend one or both sessions.
